The rainbow slime

A highly detailed macro photograph of a slime mold sporangium of Colloderma oculatum, a truly rare sighting. Deep in a nature reserve close to my home in Uppsala I found this really special slime mold. It was actually the first time this species was reported in my province (Uppland). This beautiful species is called Colloderma oculatum and is very small (<5 mm). I found this little guy growing in some moss on a half rotten log. This is probably the most detailed and magnified photo that exists of this species today.
